Restorative justice brings those harmed by crime or conflict and those responsible for the harm into communication, enabling everyone affected by a particular incident to play a part in repairing the harm and finding a positive way forward.

This is part of a wider field called restorative practice.

Restorative Justice

To promote and advance the practice of restorative justice the council identified ‘Champions’ from across a number of sectors including the criminal justice system, education and social care. The work of the champions was celebrated at the QEII Centre in Westminster where a series of case study presentations was blended with a Q&A panel session and concluding celebratory drinks reception. Blackberry were proud to be the event management team overseeing the planning and organisation.

The Restorative Service Quality Mark (RSQM) gives the public that confidence. Holding the RSQM is a celebration of the hard work undertaken by organisations offering a restorative service and is the best way of showcasing safe, high quality practice. A one day conference was hosted at Birmingham Town Hall for organisations looking to have their restorative practices officially accredited.
